Hellfire, Psychic Hit, Charger @ Eli's Mile High Club

I wish there was a word for the feeling I have about this upcoming show: the anticipation of your new band getting to play with your ex-bandmate’s new band with a sick headliner. What does one call this experience of feeling? I’m sure some of you know what I’m talkin about… Anyhows, Jason Willer played drums in Nik Turner’s Hawkwind and Hedersleben. When I was a sad 23-year old “experimental” bedroom violinist, I decided one day to head to (pre-reconstucted) Eli’s Mile High to hang with Tiffini Schraeper. Over tall cans, she introduced me to Jason while loudly whispering in my ear, “Jason plays in bands for a living! He’s like a professional musician! You should talk to him… I think one of his bands is looking for a singer!” So I shook hands with the tall, black-haired Jason who looked like if Ichabod Crane was a former spikey punk. He asked about what instruments I played, if I could sing, if I had ever toured. He was excited about my violin playing which made me feel pretty good. And then he showed me a YouTube video on his phone: it was Curved Air. I had never seen a really good, tasteful prog band with a violinist totally pulling it off. I hadn’t heard anything like it. He said that’s sort of what Hedersleben was going for with their sound and line-up. I was stoked on it… not knowing I was about to enter a world of late 60s to early 70s prog rock obsession. So we went to Tiffini’s and definitely didn’t do any drugs or anything and then I gave him my number and he said he’d be in touch about scheduling an audition for Hedersleben. He even said I might be able to perform with Nik Turner’s Hawkwind, too. Needless to say, the rest is HERSTORY… literally 3 weeks after we met I was somewhere in the Southwest on stage with Nik Turner and Nicky Garratt, pretending to be able to play synthesizer on Master of the Universe and dancing like Stacia except not quite topless.
